Inclusion for Children with Challenging Behaviour

I believe in inclusion, and very important that it this process continues, it’s like anything when it works well its fantastic to see, but when it goes wrong it’s a disaster. Children with behavioural problems, are actually excluded by forcing them on a daily basis into situations they can’t deal with either academically or socially, this course of action sets them up to fail on a daily basis. This impact on other children within the classroom can be massive, losing hours of their education a week as the lessons are disrupted. We’re not referring to children that have the odd problem, on the contrary these children never really settled down in the classroom or access the curriculum at any time. Inclusion is fine but when it has no benefit to the child we are trying to include with behavioural problems or the other pupils within the classroom we must look closely at the right approach otherwise these children will end up leaving the education system with no benefits from years of trying.
